Valley Watervale Riesling
STYLE —
Produced as a classic dry style.
VITICULTURE —
The fruit was sourced off the Castine family Golf House vineyard grown in the famous Watervale region. The soil profile is red loam over limestone and the yield was 2.8 tonnes/acre.
VINIFICATION —
Good ripening conditions allowed for the development of pronounced citrus aromas and flavours. The grapes were harvested in late February. Only the free run juice is used for the Tim Gramp Riesling. Fermentation was over a couple of weeks – after cold stabilising/filtering, the wine was bottled in mid September. 12.5% alc/vol
TASTING NOTES —
A classic dry style of Riesling with seductive lemon, lime and floral aromas. The provocative citrus flavours on the palate are balanced with invigorating acidity and good length of flavour. Time in the cellar of 6 – 7 years will reward the consumer with a wine of enticing complexity.
