STYLE —

Produced as a classic dry style.

VITICULTURE —

The fruit for this wine was sourced from a premium Watervale grapegrower – the Castine family Golf House vineyard. The vineyard is on red loam over limestone and the yield was 2 tonnes/acre.

VINIFICATION —

Ripening conditions were very favourable over the January/February period, producing Riesling’s with uplifted varietal purity – in the case of the Watervale region it was accentuated limes and lemons with a touch of floral orange blossom. Good natural acidity provided a backbone for wonderful palate structure and length of flavour. The grapes were harvested in mid March. Only the free run juice is used for the Tim Gramp Riesling. Fermentation was over three weeks and after cold stabilising/filtering, the wine was bottled in late August. Alcohol 12.5% v/v

TASTING NOTES —

This wine was sourced from 100% Watervale fruit off the Castine family Golf House vineyard. A classic dry style of Riesling with seductive lime, lemon and floral aromas. The zesty citrus components follow through onto the palate, balanced with crisp acidity and good length of flavour. Patience of time in the cellar of 6 to 8 years will see this Riesling mellow and reward the consumer with a wine of enticing complexity.

“Excellent Clare Valley-Watervale Riesling is a Tim Gramp speciality. This ’06 is a classic regional style of the fuller, richer type. Lime, apple and charming floral notes introduce it, and a slaty undercurrant adds savoury interest. The palate is smooth and long, with good concentration and refinement, ahead of a lingering, dry finish.”
