Valley Watervale Riesling
STYLE —
Produced as a classic dry style.
VITICULTURE —
The fruit was sourced off the Castine family Golf House vineyard grown in the famous Watervale region. The soil profile is red loam over limestone and the yield was 2 tonnes/acre.
VINIFICATION —
Riesling once again proved its physiological resilience in buffering the extreme effects of the February heatwave during the 2009 vintage. The Watervale region produced wines with uplifted citrus aromas and flavours. The grapes were harvested in late February. Only the free run juice is used for the Tim Gramp Riesling. Fermentation was over a couple of weeks - after cold stabilising/filtering, the wine was bottled in mid November. 12.0% alc/vol
TASTING NOTES —
A classic dry style of Riesling with seductive lime, lemon and floral aromas. The zesty and elegant citrus components follow through onto the palate, balanced with refreshing acidity and good length of flavour. Time in the cellar of 6-7 years will reward the consumer with a wine of enticing complexity.
