McLAREN VALE SHIRAZ
View 2002 Shiraz, McLaren Vale
STYLE —
A full bodied, yet balanced style of McLaren Vale Shiraz.
VITICULTURE —
Selected from an individual vineyard site in McLaren Flat. Soil profile is brown to red loam of 2 metres depth. Yield averaged 3.5 tonnes/acre.
VINIFICATION —
A slow and controlled ripening period from February through to March helped develop a pronounced flavour spectrum, with obvious tones of blackberry and spice. The grapes were harvested in late March. Fermented on skins through to dryness and then intensively basket pressed. Alcohol 15.0% v/v
TASTING NOTES —
This is a rich and powerful wine. Following time honoured basket pressing, the wine was oak matured for 16 months. The blackberry and spice aromas transpose onto the palate, balanced with the fine oak and tannin structure. These round and voluptuous flavours finish with length and depth. Cellaring potential of 6 – 8 years.
