STYLE —
A powerful, full bodied yet balanced wine
VITICULTURE —
The fruit for this wine was sourced off the Bear family vineyard, located on the southern cusp of the Gilbert Valley (nestled between Clare and Barossa Valleys). The remote and isolated position of this unique vineyard site consistently produces wines of immense power and quality. Yield was 2 tonnes/acre.
VINIFICATION —
Mild weather and even ripening conditions allowed for expressive berry aroma and flavour characteristics. The grapes were harvested in mid March. Fermented in static red fermenters on skins through to dryness and then basket pressed. Matured in American oak hogsheads for 36 months. Alcohol 14.5%v/v
TASTING NOTES —
A voluptuous, full bodied style exhibiting blackberry and spice aromas. As a result of basket pressing, the palate opens with complex berry flavours, balanced with a subtle oak/tannin structure, finishing with length and depth. Cellaring potential of 5 – 7 years.
