2002 McLAREN VALE SHIRAZ

STYLE—
A full bodied, yet balanced style of McLaren Vale Shiraz

VITICULTURE —
Selected from an individual vineyard site in McLaren Vale. Soil profile is red loam over limestone. Yield was 2 tonnes/acre.

VINIFICATION —
A long and slow ripening season produced wines of intense flavour and colour. The grapes were harvested in mid April. Fermented on skins through to dryness and then basket pressed. Aged in new American oak barriques for 26 months. Alcohol 14.5% v/v

TASTING NOTES—
Made from 100% McLaren Vale Shiraz. This is a powerful and voluptuous wine. Following time honoured basket pressing, the wine was matured in new American oak barriques. Aromas of blackberry, spice and a hint of aniseed combine nicely with the underlying smoky vanillin oak. The spectrum of flavours on the palate are balanced with the fine oak and tannin structure, finishing with depth and length. Cellaring potential of 8 – 10 years.
